How do I get my ID Card? (Updated June 2023)

Attention incoming FA23 students: Your ID card will not be available for pickup until the fall quarter. During the first week of the quarter, our office will organize a distribution event where you can pickup your FIRST ID card. Please wait for instructions from our office on this event.

Current students: To request a new or replacement ID card, please fill out an ID Card Request Form. Once your form is reviewed by our staff, you will receive an email letting you know you can pick up your new ID Card. 

Please note that the Campus Cards Office cannot mail out new or replacement ID cards to any campus personnel. 

Students must submit their ID card photo via our online Photo Tool.

I lost my card, does the Campus Cards office have it?

The Campus Cards Office will contact you via your UCSD email address if your ID card has been turned into our office. If you do not receive an email from us, then we do not have your ID card.

If you are told by another office or department that your ID card was sent to our office, but our office has not received it, the ID card could still be in transit via the inter-campus mail system. Unless you hear directly from our office that we have received your ID card, unfortunately we do not have it.

How do I replace my lost, stolen, or not working student card?

  • You lost your card.
  • Your card was stolen.
  • Your card doesn't work anymore.

I found my old student ID card, can I re-activate that card?

Please submit a case so we may evaluate your card to see if it can be reactivated. 

What if I legally changed my name?

You can file a Request for Name Change (PDF) with the Registrar's Office. Please allow 7 business days for processing. After that, you can request a replacement by filling out an ID Card Request Form.

What if I prefer to use my Lived Name?

Campus ID cards are printed with your legal name, unless a lived name is provided prior to the ID card being printed.  If you prefer to use your lived name, you can submit a lived name on the Social Identities Tool via My TritonLink. The Social Identity Tool allows students to set their lived name and lived personal pronouns in University records and systems.  

  • If you need a replacement ID card with your lived name, please submit an ID Card request form. For a limited time, there is no charge for the first replacement ID card due to a lived name change. Subsequent replacement ID cards will cost $25.00.
  • Please allow 1-2 business days (after you submit your update to the Social Identities Tool) for our systems to be updated with your lived name before requesting an ID card.
  • Please note if you are using a lived name significantly different from your legal name you will want to make sure that the lived name is printed on your Campus ID card and that you have that ID card available to you when you are doing an activity where your identity must be verified by the university such as taking a proctored exam.
